BLUT AUS NORD / 777 - The Desanctification (2011)

The ninth full length album by the French Blut Aus Nord is conceptually the second part of a trilogy that fits between Sect(s) (2011) and Cosmosophy (2102).
Fans of Godflesh's album Pure (1992) will feel comfortable with the production; it takes that nihilistic drum sound and adds it to an avant-garde black(ish) metal drawl. At times it feels meandering and directionless but that's a sleight that fades with repeated listens. Once you realise that everything has a specific purpose, things begin to make perfect musical sense.
