Cold World gave fans an idea of what was to come. It offered a fresh, new melancholic sound that was different than the début album but no less heavy; it felt like an organic progression. The stark emptiness held a beauty that couldn't be obliterated no matter how heavy the bass got. The title track is one of the finest from that era in the band's evolution.
