CIRCLE JERKS / VI (1987)

VI is a storming good album. It deviates from the Jerks' hardcore origins, giving instead a more happy punk/metal sound with smart drums and the occasional guitar solo. Vocals are still raspy and punchy. Songs average about one-and-a-half minutes, so never overstay their welcome. It's the best production they ever had and while that may irritate some people, I feel it works in the Jerks favour this time. It's currently out of print, which is a crime.

Songs of Note: Patty's Killing Mel; Casualty Vampires

4 senseless beatings out of 5
