CARTER BURWELL - The Corruptor [1999]

In this culture clash score, The Corruptor uses Asian-based instruments together with Western style compositions and electric guitars. This may sound unusual at first, but it really grows on you during the opening credits. The whispering flute really brings out the themes and develops a sense of character for the score.

The album on its own is well worth having and seems to sum up the overall theme and direction of the movie. Although, a few scenes from the movie are lacking on the retail release, it's not entirely to be dreaded.

4 spaghetti-western cultural mixes out of 5.

The R1 DVD has an audio commentary with the composer and the complete score, in 5.1 surround sound to boot. Sadly, this is not available on the Blu-ray release.
