ALICE COOPER / Welcome To My Nightmare (1975)

If you only listen to one Alice Cooper album make damn sure it’s this one, it’s his masterpiece.  Welcome… is a concept album exploring the nightmares of a young boy, Steven.  It’s a painting in musical form, full of layers, vibrant textures and lines that lead back upon themselves. The inclusion of brass and synthesisers alongside the more traditional rock and roll guitars was an inspired move.  Along the way it flirts with cabaret, ballad, spoken word and Alice's signature creepy piano movements.  An essential purchase.  I can't give the songs of note I'd like to as they end the story, so instead:

Songs of Note: Devils FoodBlack Widow (listen to them in that order)
